This is one of OUR FAVORITE item to ORDER…it is loved by all of us!! We discovered this little yumminess when we first ate at Bonefish Grill. Ever since then…if we see it on the menu…WE would ORDER it!! But you know..with a family of 6…it can get pretty EXPENSIVE!! Especially when we have to order 2 orders sometimes!!! So, I went home and started to test out a few different recipes and tweak it a few times. I tried out a recipe where I just added sweet chili to mayo…that was ok..but the kids didn’t love it that much. They liked it but NOT quite the same as the restaurant. I also tried frying the shrimp in a different battered….BUT I think this is the one that they preferred. SImple and easy to make. I usually DOUBLE the sauce because they usually smother their broccoli in the sauce. This is a great way to get the kids to eat their veggies.

INGREDIENTS

WALNUT
1 cup water
2/3 cup white sugar
1/2 cup walnuts

SHRIMP MARINADE
1 egg whites
1 teaspoon salt

***1 cup all purpose flour

HONEY SAUCE
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon canned sweetened condensed milk
vegetable oil for frying

DIRECTIONS

In a small sauce pan add the water and sugar. Once it starts to boil and add the walnuts. Cook for 2 minutes, then with a slotted spoon…spoon out the walnut and place  on a baking pan with parchment paper  to dry.

Season the shrimp with 1 teaspoon salt and 1 egg white, mix well and set aside for a few minutes. Pour all purpose flour (APF) onto a plate. Heat the oil in a heavy deep skillet over medium-high heat. Dip shrimp into the all purpose flour, and then fry in the hot oil until golden brown, about 5-8 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

In a medium serving bowl, stir together the mayonnaise, honey and sweetened condensed milk.  Add shrimp and toss to coat with the sauce. Sprinkle the candied walnuts on top and serve. ENJOY!!!
